The vanishing point is an effort to give form to an otherwise irreconcilable plurality of materials. The objects on view are gathered from the artist’s collection using minimal criteria. The organization of the matter into a simultaneous expansion and convergence gives rise to an atmosphere of coincidence, combination, and collaboration as well as conflict, clash, and chaos. The luggage functions as the storage and travel container for the ephemera collected. The container and modularity it exhibits, also act as a symbol for the fluidity and dispersion of images and concepts across a variety contexts and sites. The work is an embodiment of the all-inclusive open-call exhibition context and the democratic sensibility it engenders. Curated by Allison Peters and Chris Hammes
